Description

‘Riwaindo,’ the title of 2014 Academy alumni Haioka’s new album, plays with the notion of tracing back the early stages of Japanese music. On this release for Emerald & Doreen, the Tokyo-based artist explores the ancient roots of Gagaku, sometimes described as the world’s oldest form of continuous orchestral music, and transports it into the electronic vernacular of today. “8 Million,” the last track on the album, features fellow RBMA alumni Plasma Rüby and unfolds as a drone-led, soothing piece of downtempo electronica that is punctuated by processed bits of vocals. Time and historicity seem to dissolve - at least for 7 gorgeous minutes.

‘Riwaindo’ is out December 2nd via Emerald & Doreen. Purchase the album here: https://itunes.apple.com/album/riwaindo/id1164038580
