Harald Björk is an alumnus of the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy in New York and a sturdy presence on the Stockholm scene, with early releases on Traum Schallplatten and Studio Barnhus. An outwardly emotional songwriter, Björk is now preparing to release his second LP 'Kris- & Konflikthantering' on his own Kranglan Broadcast label, a release that asserts his skill at building intriguing vocal hooks out of melodic electronics.
“So Serving” appears on 'Kris- & Konflikthantering I/III,' the first of three episodic EPs that will make up the final LP. The album title is Swedish for “crises and conflict management,” a reference to a university course Björk took of the same name, and “So Serving” evokes someone coming to terms with a relationship ending, even if the lyrical details remain intentionally foggy. A hesitant intro has percolating bass gently pressing against the loping piano line, and a cascading synth line creates an even lovelier mood. Eventually this is overtaken by billowing pads and Björk’s soft-spoken vocals before random scratches and bits of siren and feedback interrupt his reverie - “So Serving” is ramshackle but rollicking in a subtle way.
