Description

New Zealand’s Myele Manzanza, who took part in the Red Bull Music Academy 2010 in London, first gained recognition as the drummer of the celebrated Electric Wire Hustle outfit. Since leaving the band in 2013, Myele has had some impressive solo work to show on ‘One,’ released via BBE, and collaborated with luminaries such as Theo Parrish, Amp Fiddler, Mark de Clive-Lowe and fellow Academy alumnus and First Word Records label-mate Ross McHenry.

We’re proud to present this exclusive stream of Myele’s excellent new ‘OnePointOne’ album, recorded live at Los Angeles jazz institution Blue Whale. Besides live versions of ‘One’ cuts, the album also features covers of Theo Parrish, Jill Scott and Bobby Hutcherson, and was recorded with Mark de Clive-Lowe, Ben Shepherd, Nia Andrews, Charlie K and the Quartetto Fantastico string quartet under the lead of Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.

Pick up the album via First Word Records on November 11th, 2016 and catch Myele Manzanza and Ross McHenry on their double album release tour through New Zealand later this month:
