Description

Raised in Karachi, Pakistan but based in the United States, RBMA Paris alumus Ziyad Habib creates burbling soundscapes under his Noahs Heark guise. Though relaxed and twinkling with pastoral detail, his tracks maintain a sense of connection to the turbulent outside world. Following the 'Little Tree' EP on Mooshy Moo and concurrent with his efforts running the Hear Now label, Habib has now contributed a track to the forthcoming '#Explorer2' compilation on InFiné that feels utterly rustic even as it pulls you skyward.

"Sync" ushers the listener into a verdant forest, soaking each element in reverb and echo while maintaining a sense of natural calm. Several instruments periodically poke out from the trees, but they retreat just as quickly, leaving only brief sensations of recognition en route to a pillowy kick drum. Even then the track refuses to stay on the grid, shifting the rhythmic center of gravity, and the soft percussion feels incidental, dissolving as soon as it appears. Habib describes his music as techno blending with ambient and glitch, and you can sense the connections with what he achieves on "Sync."

InFiné's '#Explorer 2' compilation is out January 29. Pre-order it here: http://smarturl.it/explorer2-itunes
