The deep diggers from Ostinato Records have unveiled a multi-layered music experience from Senegal. Star Band de Dakar’s raw 1970s recordings of Cuban rhythms captured at Dakar’s Le Miami nightclub are symbols of solidarity with their revolutionary brothers and sisters in the Carribean. The album, Psicodelia Afro-Cubana de Senegal, comes out March 1st on Ostinato Records but Red Bull Radio host Frosty blessed listeners with an early taste on his Open End radio program. Star Band de Dakar’s “Danguele Fasso” is a lively Afro-Latin tune that makes the intercontinental connection clear in every bounce of its salsa mbalax heartbeat.
