How well are countries doing at fulfilling their residents' social and economic human rights? Some rich countries hide poor performance on these indicators behind high GDP. Meanwhile, many poor countries blame their poor performance on lack of funds. In this Grawemeyer-award-winning book, authors Sakiko Fukuda-Parr, Terra Lawson-Remer, and Susan Randolph develop a new way to compare how well any country is actually doing, relative to how well it could be doing, given its level of GDP. You'll be amazed what you find out. Here is a recording of their Grawemeyer award lecture, recorded at the University of Louisville in April 2019, and broadcast with permission of the Grawemeyer award for ideas improving world order. Powerful stuff!
