Description

Sprouts: Radio From the Grassroots is a weekly program aired on Pacifica Affiliates around the U.S. that features local radio production and stories from many radio stations and local media groups around the world. It is produced in collaboration with community radio stations and independent producers across the country.

FORward Radio is delighted to have one of our programs broadcast to a national audience for the first time. On this week's edition of Sprouts, your host, Justin Mog, sits down with Seattle-based freelance environmental reporter, Madeline Ostrander (http://madelineostrander.net), to discuss her latest article appearing in the Jan/Feb 2018 edition of Sierra magazine, entitled "Can We Talk About The Weather: In Minnesota, rural climate dialogues get people across the political spectrum to discuss global warming." Her reporting reveals hopeful signs that people from across this country's growing political divide can find ways to have transformative, meaningful conversations about the most pressing crisis facing humanity.

Ms. Ostrander has served as a contributing editor for Yes! magazine (http://yesmagazine.org), and her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Science, Al Jazeera America, The Nation, High Country News, The Sun Magazine, Undark Magazine and numerous other publications.
