Description

On this week’s edition of Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, steps off the hiking trail for a chat with Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest’s Director, Mark Wourms, and Director of Conservation, Andrew Berry. Bernheim recently launched a "Forest Under Threat” campaign to raise awareness about threats to conservation through condemnation and imminent domain.

Bernheim Forest is under threat from two different projects, the LG&E Pipeline and the Interstate 65-71 Regional Connector. The route of the proposed projects would cut directly through an area that is home to federally endangered Indiana bats, northern long-eared bats, Kentucky glade cress, globally imperiled bluff vertigo snail, and the recently discovered critically imperiled hidden springsnail. Bernheim protects endangered species like these, while providing quality of life in this region with clean air, water and scenic beauty…all of which promotes tourism benefitting our regional economy.

Be a hero! Help us fight to protect our conservation lands. Voice your concern for both projects at once! Keep our pristine springs, waterways and forest habitats intact. Help us protect Bernheim Forest now and for future generations. Email, with one click, all involved organizations and officials voicing your opposition to the pipeline and regional connector. https://bernheim.org/forestunderthreat/

As always, our interview is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW!
