On this week’s edition of Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, puts down his spoke wrench for a chat with co-founder John Krueger and shop coordinator Nathan Green of the Falls City Community Bikeworks (FCCB), Louisville’s non-profit community bike shop in Shelby Park at 1217 Logan St. Celebrate the last days of Bike Everywhere Month as we mark FCCB’s fifth anniversary of helping our community access the tools and know-how they need to fix and maintain bicycles.
We’ll hear about the history of the shop and how has it been sustained through donations and volunteer power. We’ll also explore connections to other bike projects like Wayside Wheels and Pedal Power. And you’ll hear about where you can find FCCB next out in the community:
- At Hal and Ben's Bike-In at Shelby Park on Saturday, June 15th 5pm-dark;
- At the next Flea Off Market, where FCCB will be offering a lot of bikes for sale;
- At Forecastle on the Waterfront July 12-14, where FCCB is seeking volunteer help for their fundraiser; and
- At their first big fundraiser is planned for early October, right up Logan Street at the new Tim Faulkner gallery.
