Description

Heather McGhee is one of the preeminent voices speaking to what this moment calls for: sharing our stories, listening, building community, and finding beauty. National media has named her as “one of the most interesting thinkers today on the intersection of racism and economic inequality.” She is the president of the national think tank Demos, and a frequent writer, speaker and media commentator on issues of democracy reform, economic opportunity, racial equity and financial regulation. She reached millions through an appearance on C-SPAN that’s gone viral since the election, when she talked a caller through his admission of being prejudiced. Heather is currently writing a book about the costs of racism to white people, and why talking about it is important.

McGhee was the keynote speaker at this year's annual meeting of the Kentuckians For The Commonwealth on August 26th. We feature part of her keynote address on this week's edition of Sustainability Now! with your host, Justin Mog.

We also take you out to the streets of NuLu Fest on East Market Street, where FORward Radio was recording the voices of our community on September 30th, 2017.

Sustainability Now! airs on FORward Radio, 106.5fm, WFMP-LP Louisville, every Monday at 6pm and repeats Tuesdays at 10am.
