Description

On this edition of Sustainability Now!, your host Justin Mog, sits down with Democratic Louisville Mayoral Candidate, Ryan Fenwick, to explore why he is challenging the incumbent Mayor and what his vision for a more sustainable city looks like.

This is part of a series of programs FORward Radio is producing during campaign season to give equal time to all registered candidates for public office. FOR and FORward Radio are 501(c)3 organizations and, as such, we do not endorse any particular candidates or parties…but we do endorse a thriving democracy, an informed electorate, and good ideas for the future of our city, state, nation, and planet.

Ryan Fenwick grew up in a small town in Western Kentucky. He spent childhood working on the farm before moving to attend the University of Louisville. After graduating with a degree in law and urban planning, Ryan began his career as an attorney with a focus on helping ordinary folks find justice. As an attorney he has helped people start nonprofits, worked to make government accountable, and fought for regular people against big money interests.

Ryan has also worked as a grassroots activist and community advocate. He was involved in the Move Louisville Transportation Plan, the Vision Louisville Report for Improved Urban Infrastructure, the Vision Smoketown report, as well as Louisville People’s Guide to the Budget. Mr. Fenwick has served on the steering and executive committees of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, and he is a member of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee.

He is running for mayor because he thinks Louisville could be more innovative, equitable, and compassionate. Ryan wants to rethink how we do economic development, address our housing crisis, implement restorative justice policies, and do more to protect the environment. He wants to create new avenues for community-based decision making and do more to value the voices of ordinary residents.
