Description

We will continue reviewing Bill Clinton's 1993 speech delivered upon the signing of NAFTA.

The purpose of this episode is to separate rhetoric from reality and to separate myth from fact.

We are told that NAFTA is about prosperity, but in fact it is a way to impoverish the middle class and the poor. We are told that NAFTA will help everyone, but in fact it enriches a few at the expense of everyone else.

Clinton went so far as to say that NAFTA would be good for the environment, but the opposite is true. Clinton went so far as to say that NAFTA is a way to social progress, but that is very far from the truth.

We bring to bear relevant historical details, such as the way Great Brittain and the United States have always grown strong markets through protectionism, while weakening the markets of third world countries by imposing our version of "free trade" on our unfortunate neighbors.
