When we meet people who serve in the military, we say, "Thank you for your service." But why? Are military personnel the only ones who serve our country. What about teachers, nurses, forest rangers?
All due respect to our service members, we need to redirect some of our military spending to solving some of the more pressing problems we have as a society, not least of all ecological problems, and the need to manage scarce water resources.
This episode is about the myriad of problems to be solved and the skill sets for which we need to be thanking people for their service.
