WTJU Sunset Road host Pete Marshall paid tribute to Vaughan Mairs (Mando Mafia, Scuffletown, Faster Than Walking) with a two hour program of Vaughan's musical legacy. Vaughan passed away June 25 after a long battle with cancer. He was an integral part of the Charlottesville music community for several decades. Gone but certainly not forgotten
Vaughan played in a number of other bands too over the years... Guano Boys (with Chris Leva), The Belligerent Brothers(with Lew & Fred Prichard), The Green Meadow String Band(with WV fiddle master Bobby Taylor). He even played at least one gig with Leftover Salmon..he was friends, from his Morgantown WV days, with Vince Herrman, who invited him to join the band(he didn’t). And those are just the ones Pete knows about....
