I’ve been saying for ages to everyone that would listen ‘I’ve got that on 45’ but no one seemed to care! So to remedy that, I’ve put together this mix of some of my finest 45s & 7s. It's (nearly) 90 mins of funk, hip hop, latin & disco featuring tunes & mixes by Quantic Soul Orchestra, Fort Knox Five, Smoove, De La Soul, Andy Cooper, James Brown, Edwin Star & many more. There’s some of the records that Mr Doris & I have made & released. I've been crate diggings all over the world for years & this is a selection of those little spinny gems.
The mix isn’t perfect but 45s mixes never are. If you’ve not tried to mix these little suckers together I can honestly tell you’ve they’ve got a mind of their own. Some of them are 50 years old! In fact one on the mix is 55 years old. If you listen closely you can hear the needle skipping on a number of occasions. But it’s these imperfections that give it all character. I very much enjoyed mixing it & I hope you too enjoy the selection…
