Victor Norman:
"It's not a standard collection of recent tunes. Every tune is from between 1990 and 1998, so probably older or at least the same age as many of those who will listen to it. If you remember any of these tracks from your own teenage years, congratulations, you're OLD.
I wanted to remind you that this new slow dance music phenomenon thats growing now isn’t actually so new at all and I wanted to also share with you some of the artists that got me interested in electronic music in the first place. At the same time i didn't want it to be a nostalgia trip full of Portishead and Massive Attack tunes. I also tried to pick tracks that don't sound like they're 20+ years old. It was really, really hard. I had to throw out so many tunes, because I just couldn’t find a good way to fit them into the mix. Producers of that era clearly didn’t follow the rules the same way we do now. For example, take any Triphop compilation from that time and you will find that the bpms vary all the way from 70 to 120 bpm. And almost none of the tunes will follow the 4*4 template we've come to expect from dance music. So intros, breaks, outros, are all out the door. If you were an active DJ at the time, I salute you. You had your work cut out for you." - Victor Norman
