When people eat together, a bond of friendship forms. They become like family. That’s why when Jesus wanted to bond his followers to him and one another, he offered them the shared meal we call Holy Communion. By it we share in the presence of Christ. And sharing a meal with people we love who may not know Christ builds a bond of trust.
