Here's the full track I created for Blu Mar Ten's 2017 remix competition (see: http://djmag.com/news/blu-mar-ten-remix-competition ). After hearing the samples I wanted to go for something floaty atmospheric, not unlike the late 90ies tunes, but also wanted to do something a bit unusual beat-wise, and not sticking to the standard stepping patterns. I based the rhythms of the kick and snare on the Cuban clave rhythms found in Salsa, Rumba and Son, which makes it a bit in the style of some old Pariah tunes perhaps who were masters at creating amazing unusual complex beat patterns.
The track didn't make it to the "best 16", perhaps because it isn't that polished, but I really enjoyed the vibe I created and also really loved finally writing a whole tune again.
