Description

Hello Humans! Another travel episode from the #AlmostThere project.

In this episode I sit and chew on a betel nut with a driver that took care of us on one of our trips. Soft spoken yet deeply passionate, he slowly opens up and talks about various things he normally would not, especially with a traveller. It was a rare opportunity to sit and talk with someone from a culture and land that seemed foreign to me at first, yet after hearing what he had to say, I felt more connected to him and his plight. Culture may color our identity, but at the end of the day, we're all human beings.

We talk briefly about Myanmar's history, religion, Rakhine, government, education, his thoughts on his and his nation's future, and the importance of a free press.
