Life at Fort Laramie on the Western frontier was rough on soldiers. For the wives living on the post it was even harder.
A young trooper is assigned to Company B and is about to leave on a mission that may very likely result in a major battle with the Cheyenne. At the same time his young wife is due to deliver their first baby. To complicate matters, the post surgeon will be accompanying the men on their mission.
Outstanding story told from a woman's point of view. Helen Kleeb is tremendous as the bitter older woman in the story.
