Britt has signed on with the McAdams Brothers to take a herd of 400 white faced cattle to Abilene. There are only three cowboys on the drive: Britt, Rife and Norm McAdams.
Rife is the much older brother who has been in charge since their parents died many years before when Norm was just a youngster. Rife fears he may not have taught young Norm, who is on his first cattle drive, a strong work ethic. This becomes evident the first time the cattle stampede.
The real problem, however, surrounds a suspected love triangle that involves the two brothers and Norm's wife, Carrie. This makes for a compelling episode about family tragedy with a Shakesperean feel.
