The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs hosted a business meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Two bills to address the crisis of missing, murdered and trafficked Native Americans were on the agenda:
* S.227, Savanna’s Act
* S.982, Not Invisible Act of 2019
The committee passed both bills, each by a vote of 12 "ayes" and 1 "not present."
The 12 ayes came from the 6 Republican members and 6 Democratic members who were either present at the meeting or voted by proxy. The one member who was "not present" and who did not vote by proxy was Rep. Jerry Moran (R-Kansas).
Both bills can now be considered by the full U.S. Senate.
