Jonathan Nez, a former president of the Navajo Nation, is running for Congress in one of the most Native-populated districts in the United States.
Nez announced his bid for the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday, October 16, 2023. He is seeking the Democratic nomination for Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, where 22 percent of the population is American Indian or Alaska Native.
"Arizonans deserve leaders in Congress who work for them, not extremists trying to score political points," Nez said in a post on social media. "I'll always put rural AZ before DC politics."
