The U.S. House of Representatives debates S.256, the Esther Martinez Native American Languages Programs Reauthorization Act, on December 9, 2019.
The bipartisan bill reauthorizes a program that provides $13 million a year for Native language initiatives across the United States.
The House passed S.256 under a suspension of the rules. The bill already passed the U.S. Senate so it just needs the signature of President Trump to become law.
