Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York), the Democratic majority leader in the U.S. Senate, announces the first vote on Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) to serve as Secretary of the Interior.
A vote on a procedural motion takes place on the afternoon of March 11, 2021, Schumer said. It is a recorded vote so all members will be going on the record on their stance on Haaland's historic nomination to lead the Department of the Interior.
The outcome will pave the way for a final vote on Haaland's nomination. That is expected to take place next Monday, March 15.
