I decided for the first time to do a proper first single, rather than just drop a whole project.
“Living Words” is from a 12-song album dropping next month that is fully produced by August Fanon, features scratches by DJMIKEC, cover photo by Tim Fish and was Mixed/Mastered by Willie Green!!
I’m really excited to share that album with you, as I feel like I really tapped into something special on that one. AND, August Fanon has been one of my absolute favorite producers for many years now, so it was an honor to get to rock with him, and I promise you, the beats are phenomenal.
The reason I decided to drop “Living Words” today is because is the one year anniversary from when I first recorded the demo version to this beat. I touch on that story in the intro of the song.
The song’s title is essentially the opposite of the more famous phrase, “dying words”, because these songs I write are really meant to capture my life in the most complete, honest, as well as creative, and expressive way that I can.
The “punchline” here is that people who know me very well could probably tell you that for most of the last 7 or so years, I’ve made comments about my life being in the “bonus rounds”, or some other dramatic and grim outlook. But semi-recently begun a journey to reprogram the brain, and look for the things in my life that I want to live for, so now I’m just trying to live the best I can. BUT, some times those dark thoughts sneak up, I wrote this song while trying to push through one of those difficult moments.
