Description

D.B.I a.k.a Def Boyz Incorporated were a Waukegan based rap group, active since the mid to late 80s on the Lake County scene.

AMC of Wildstyle saw them perform live at Talent Show at Neal Elementary School in North Chicago, and was impressed by their show, but also that they were performing over there own original beats, at a time when most local talent relied on instrumentals from 12” singles. After the performance AMC approached them to give them their props and ask about the beats, and learned they were using Mattel's Synsonic Drums and a Casio keyboard, but were looking for an upgrade in their sound. Around that time, Wildstyle had just started the first incarnation of their home studio, the RAGE CAGE, with a Roland 505 and SK-5, and invited D.B.I to record there, and to be the second group to join the crew they were trying to form, the Hardrock Alliance.

D.B.I remained active on the scene, doing shows and making demos, and in the mid 90s changed their name to Criminal Law, and proceeded to make an even bigger impact on the local scene and beyond.

From D.B.I to Criminal, they are 100% Lake County legends

D.B.I is ALB III, Tra B, King Rand and Mic B, with DJ Ice and DJ Madd Maxx on the cuts.
