1. New identity in Christ does not mean previous social relationships are erased, even if ( or perhaps because ) they lead to innocent suffering. (2:18-20; 3:1-6)
2. All Christians are to follow the example of Christ's innocent suffering. (2:21-23)
3. Jesus's innocent suffering uniquely accomplishes redemption and vindication of those who suffer. (2:24-25)
