You have to love Jesus’ first disciples for providing Jesus with so many opportunities to help us deal with the realities of life. In John 14 three disciples speak who we don’t hear from anywhere else in the accounts of Jesus’ life recorded by Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Thomas, in last week's reading, says, “Lord we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Today it is Philip who says, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” And then Judas (not Iscariot), “Lord how is it you will manifest yourself to us and not to the world?” Into their bewilderment Jesus speaks to give us comfort and encouragement.
