Rev. Tige Culbertson
In the Bible, God describes himself as a one-of-a-kind tri-personal being: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They coexist in an incomprensible unity, each complementing and being complemented by the other. All have been present in the world since the creation. And yet the Holy Spirit is often the silent partner in this divine treo. That’s because the Spirit’s job is to shine the spotlight on Jesus and his work of our redemption through his perfect life, innocent suffering, death, his glorious resurrection, and ascension. Today we celebrate the work of the Holy Spirit who calls me by the Gospel, enlightens me with his gifts, sanctifies and keeps me in the one true faith” (Luther’s Small Catechism, Explanation to the Third Article of the Apostles’ Creed).
