Our souls are exposed to a toxic environment...
• God has made a way of escape from this toxic environment of everyone doing what is right in
their own eyes. In fact, this is the way of the believer.
• Sin (spiritual rebellion) creates both a toxic nature and a toxic environment. This is imaged in
death following sin (toxic nature) and banishment from Eden (sin creates a toxic environment...
God says, not here... ruin your own world)
• Repentance is us turning away from ourselves and saying, “Forgive me for what I’ve made of
myself... and my world”
• Baptism of water and spirit is the transformation of heart and soul. Having turned away from this
world, our hearts are changed to desire another world, a better world.
• Spiritual maturity is the nurturing of a spiritually healthy inner world while we survive a toxic
world of sin and self.
• Spiritual mission is to demonstrate this way of a spiritually healthy soul to the world around
you... that others might see...
So what is the way of the spiritually healthy soul?
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.
1) What is holy? This is a question of aspirations...
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
2) What comes first in your heart? Question of spiritual order...
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
3) How much is enough? Question of survival... or making survival spiritual...
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
4) What or who are you following? All we like sheep have gone astray...
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
5) What or who will you worship?
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
Everyone worships.
You’re going to serve somebody. Who were these people serving? Themselves. The god of self is the most worshiped god in America.
In Jesus, we meet God in person. That is why He is the ultimate revelation of God. If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.
