Mark 6:1-6
• In the day that Jesus walked the earth, carpenters were very skilled. Because the wood was scarce in Israel, they had to be very skilled to not waste wood.
• At that time, it was taught, "If you didn't teach your children how to work, you taught them to be a thief."
• Although people were overwhelmed by what Jesus taught, they were offended that He was only a carpenter. At that point, they rejected Him.
• The Jews expected that their Messiah would be a military leader and rid Israel of the Roman oppression as the time.
• Jesus served longer as a carpenter longer than He served as a preacher. Jesus chose to identify common people and blue-collar workers.
• When we were low down and dirty and not thinking about God, Jesus was and is willing to identify Himself with us and then sacrifice Himself for us.
• A carpenter repairs things and builds things from scratch. If we are broken, Jesus can fix us. Anyone that has broken dreams and aspirations, the Lord wants to fix things for us. What do we need to be fixed today? All we need is in the House of the Lord.
• When we are willing to lift our hands and our voice in worship to the Lord, we invite Him to get involved in our messes so that He can fix what only He can fix. A battered reed, the Lord will not break. A smoldering wick, the Lord will not put out. Instead, the great Carpenter begins to work on our behalf. The process begins with our belief in the Lord. We do not serve a dead God. You can be one praise or shout away from your breakthrough!
• What God builds and fixes, He intends to move into it. The Lord is still working on us.
• Jesus is still a Carpenter today, for He said, "In my Father's house, there are many mansions". The Lord is preparing a place for us.
• This life is a rehearsal for Heaven. Shouting here is an only rehearsal for shouting there.
• The good Carpenter sees potential through the problems and says to us, "I can pick you up, and fix what is broken".
• The Lord even died as a carpenter by being nailed to a cross. He finished the work by dying on an old rugged cross.
• The Carpenter can rebuild and fix any life or situation, but need to allow Him to lead us.
