James 1:26-27
• Our goal is not to be religious, our goal is to be Christian.
• Jesus Christ had to most problems with religious people.
• When we read the Book of James, who was the literal brother of Jesus Christ and was the pastor of the church in Jerusalem made up of scribes, Pharisees and Lawyer, who knew more about the Torah than James, a blue collar worker, it makes the Scripture live to us and shows us what it means to be real.
• Your tongue can do more on accident than our religion can fix on purpose.
• As Christians are ambassadors of another world as administrators of grace.
• Even though what we say to others may not be true by the opinion of the cynic, it may be true by the promise of our Creator.
• Our tongue has the power of either life or death.
• The three Spiritual Aspirations are:
1. How do we talk to others and ourselves? Is our tongue speaking life or death?
2. Our compassion (true religion moves us to action) Care for people who are the weakest among us and need our help.
3. To keep oneself unstained by the world; which is the issue of keeping our heart pure Jesus helped us understand that a walk with Him is not a rule-book, but it is keeping our heart correct by our Creator.
