The Athlone School for the Blind in Cape Town serves blind learners and others with disabilities from all over the country. The school was established in 1927 to provide education and residential care for blind and visually impaired children, and remains the heart of many blind learners' education and social life.
Several of the young learners shared with the Radio Workshop what it is like to be blind, how they learn to read and write, and what they like to read.
