This lecture is from the "Short Stories by Jesus: A Closer Look at the Parables" Monday evening classes led by Dr. Mike Graves. According to Mark’s Gospel, Jesus did not speak to his followers “except in parables,” which is something of an exaggeration. But not by much since it was clearly his favorite way of teaching. Parables, however, are not simple stories; they are more like puzzling riddles. In these lectures, we’ll look at several parables, trying to figure out their meaning and why Jesus spoke in riddles.
