"Just a Kid?" focuses on the prophet Jeremiah's resistance to a career in ministry. His reluctance is not unusual. Moses was concern about his lack of public speaking skills. Gideon is one of the great heroes of the Bible, but he does all he can to avoid God's calling. There are similar stories in both the Bible and in our culture.
God's response to young Jeremiah is beautiful. "Do not say, 'For I am only a boy.' For you shall go to all to whom I send you...Do not be afraid, for I am with you." This sermon deals with how important it is for us to see our children and youth as fully chosen by God, as ones who are gifted to serve and lead even now. What do we need to hear from them that we otherwise might miss? What does it mean that God is present with us, even if we are afraid? Based on Jeremiah 1: 4-10. (August 21, 2016)
