FVRL is celebrating Freedom to Read Week, February 20 to 26! In this week’s podcast, Jessica reviews the graphic novel The New Kid by Jerry Craft. She became curious about this book when it was challenged by some parents in the United States. The New Kid is about Jordan, a mixed-race kid going into Grade 7 in a new, fancy school. As Jordan adjusts to life at school, he has to deal with new situations and challenges — including discrimination.
