In 2005 Phonix was released, a collaboration between Patrick Chardronnet and Stuttgart collective Afrilounge.
The dub version focuses on essentials. Space opens between the beats, fragments of melody surface and fade, and the groove takes full command. In a mix it grows wider, creating a flow that can carry the room for as long as the DJ decides.
Almost two decades later it stands as more than just a debut highlight. Phonix (Dub) is part of the foundation of Poker Flat’s mid 2000s catalog, a sound that shaped countless sets and still resonates today.
