(12/1/22) Is the Bull Market back? Fed Chairman Powell's somewhat dovish stance on Wednesday rallied markets to an over-3% gain, begging the question: What is Jerome Powell afraid of? Meanwhile, Markets have been consolidating for the past 6-months, and so remain. What markets DIDN'T hear was that rate hikes will continue at a slower pace, but WILL continue. Concerns about over-tightening overshadowed other issues, like the price-wage spiral, and what's likely to occur in the second half of 2023; PCE vs CPI inflation. Michael Lebowitz needs a Jim Adler-esque nickname (the Maryland Mauler?) 20% market moves in either direction no longer define markets; price trends do. Technicals vs Fundamentals: the lag effects are just starting to be felt, and QT is still going on. Don't fight the Fed; questioning the JOLT numbers; anomalies are in all the data. JOLTs & SHARTs; what about this year's Santa Claus Rally? How can we not avoid Recession in 2023? The Fed may have already over-tightened.
