Today’s guest on Up In Your Business is Ms. Cecelia Wilson, whom I first met when she called and asked to interview me!

During our initial phone conversation, Cecelia described herself as a WWII history buff. She said that my parents' story in the fall edition of FlagandBanner.com’s BRAVE Magazine had whetted her appetite to learn more about my family and specifically my father, a Purple Heart recipient.

A few weeks later we met. As she was leaving, she gave me a copy of the book she had recently written, Back to Bremen. It is a memoir of her 80-year-old, longtime friend who lived in Germany during WWII and survived Nazi rule led by the madman, Adolf Hitler. Though I am not an avid reader, this book--told from the eyes of a 5-year-old German girl, Edith--I could not put down.

In the book, Edith recalls her mother’s courage and self-determination to keep her 7 children safe, fed, and together as they walked, rode, and scurried across Germany, foraging for food, sleeping under the stars, and hiding from Russians and Germans alike. No one could be trusted, except Americans.
