Ep 181 | Aired 2/26/2020
The word of the day on Up In Your Business today is ‘consortium,’ because that is what my guest, Ms. Garbo Hearne, has created on 12th Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. Garbo is the founder and visionary of Hearne Fine Art Gallery, Hearne Fine Art Consulting and Appraisal Services and Pyramid Art, Books and Custom Framing.
Before taking the entrepreneurial leap, Garbo was a pediatric intensive care nurse at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She received her BSN in nursing from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and her appraisal studies certificate from New York University.
Ms. Hearne and her husband, Dr. Archie Hearne, are busy proprietors. Their side by side businesses, Hearne Family Clinic, Pyramid Art, Books and Framing and Hearne Fine Art Gallery, are all nestled together in the historic Dunbar neighborhood in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas.
Oh, and if that is not enough, she and her husband co-wrote Two Decades of African American Art: Hearne Fine Art 1988 – 2008.
Listen to learn how a doctor and nurse filled a void in the Little Rock art market and how Garbo’s nursing strategies aided her in starting a business.
