This week on Up In Your Business we revisit my interview with Kate Askew, owner of the Yella Dog Press in Little Rock, AR. Kate is a native of Little Rock who graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1985. She worked for many years as a book, paper, and ephemera specialist for estate sales, and in 2002, she started her own business buying and selling rare printed materials. Eventually, buying and collecting antique texts led her to a desire to create her own. Kate saw a printing press for sale in the classifieds of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and purchased it, along with several fonts of type. Using antique type fonts dating as far back as 1856, Kate creates posters, cards, coasters, and more on a 1903 Chandler & Price platen press and a 1940 Vandercook IV flatbed proof press.
