Ep 236 | Aired 3/17/2021
Today on Up in Your Business with Kerry McCoy, I have the pleasure of interviewing the youngest indie comic book publishers in America, Mitch Breitweiser.
Though we may all feel like comic book characters are everywhere in our blockbuster movies and video games, the truth is that very few new characters are being made and especially not being printed, published, and distributed in the old-fashioned comic book style and business model.
In the year of Covid, which we will all remember, this young, brave couple launched Allegiance Art, made a Shark-Tank-like presentation to Walmart and, after a 20-year absence in the comic book industry, Walmart began selling and distributing the Breitweiser’s titles “Norah’s Saga,” “The Futurists,” “Red Rooster” and the Arkansas based “Bass Reeves” in their 3,000+ stores.
Listen to find out how Mitch literally broke into the comic business by sneaking into Marvel Comics headquarters, how he and his wife started Allegiance Art, and how they got their best-selling comics on Walmart shelves.
