Ep 258 | Aired 8/20/2021
Today’s interview on Up in Your Business with Kerry McCoy is a replay with Executive Artistic Director Mr. William Trice, savior of the Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock, Arkansas who, at the time of the interview, was making big plans for a fall/winter season comeback, with no knowledge that a world-wide pandemic was looming just ahead.
Many of you may remember that ominous day, April 24, 2018, when The Rep announced its suspension of future productions, citing financial difficulties. The citizens of Arkansas were shocked and dismayed.
Since Cliff Baker’s 1976 founding of The Rep, we’ve all come to love and take for granted this mainstay in our community. It’s been a springboard for local thespians seeking a career in acting and brought exceptional talent to our state as it produced top notch dramas, musicals and comedies, 200 nights a year. In addition to entertaining us for over 40 years, The Rep has offered creative, educational classes to our youth.
Trice is an Arkansas native, Broadway play producer, three-time Tony award winner and five- time Tony Award nominee with a background in business analysis. What?! That’s both sides of the brain! If anybody has the chops to turn around our beloved theatre, it’s him.
learn why Will left his successful career in New York City, what he sees for the future of the Arkansas Rep and how he plans to turn it around and sustain it for years to come. Update: Will is doing just that with his outdoor theatre production at the Little Rock Zoo and other area parks. Keep an eye on The Rep’s website for an upcoming production schedule.
