Description

My Dad's funeral was today. I spent the day with family and people I haven't seen since high school and even elementary school. The memory gears turned and the faces became familiar. I was in church also, where I haven't been in many years. The hymnal was easy to remember along with some prayers and creeds. When I sang along with the hymns while holding the hymnal for my Mom. The words of the songs had different meanings than they did when I sang them mechanically as a child. I leave you with this...Long ago my brother and I were goofing around in the garage. My Dad pulled the car in (he was a Lutheran minister), got out of the car and looked at both of us and said, "What are the first three letters in funeral." Many of the memories of my Dad involved libations of the adult sort. Cheers Dad wherever you are. I'm glad I got a degree before you died that was important to you.
