Description

Maybell Foster was born in a cabin outside of a town called Daisygrove, Vermont. After her parents died, she moved into town above Pop’s Tavern. She played her electric organ every evening at Pop’s covering rock and roll songs and singing. It paid the bills and rent. One summer night she was playing and it was going quite well. A man came up to her afterwards and with a Southern accent said, that he would like her to go on tour with him around the Eastern and Mideastern parts of the United States. She thought, this could be my big break. The man introduced himself as Potbelly Sam a road manager. She packed her things and said, goodbye to the people of Daisygrove and Pop’s that week and left for her dream of being an organ player. They traveled to Kansas, Ohio, Illinois, and even some Southern states. All was going well. One Halloween night a couple of years later they were in a town called Dalton, Ohio. She had a gig at a fellowship hall at the Dalton Baptist Church. She played her songs and felt she was doing quite well. After she was done a few attendants of the concert surrounded her outside. They called her a witch and said, rock and roll was the devil’s music. They grabbed here while Sam was collecting the money. They put her in the back of a station wagon and drove her to a local pond. The meanest of the bunch grabbed her and said, this is what we do to witches! He and the others drown her in the pond. To this day it is said, if you look into the pond and see your reflection in the murky water. Maybell’s lifeless body will appear and your dreams will be shattered and your life will be in ruins. Happy Halloween!
