Eyaws where used in the 1850s as a medical treatment. Here's the recipe.
1 Pint of Hog's Lard
1 Handful of Earthworms
1 Handful of Tobacco
4 Pods of Red Pepper
1 Spoonful of Black Pepper
1 Race of Ginger
Stew them well together and mix with Brandy.
