Good day to you my OwlHeads! Welcome to another feast of retro musical extravagances. This episode is chock-full of my demos ... a real jam-packed cornucopia of ancient song craft. I’ll be introducing three, yes three, rare Bernie Taupin collaborations, one of which visualizes Robert Plant mixing it up with Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and another that conjures up the notion of T. Rex, Slade and Elton John rockin’ together on a track called “Rubber Guns” (gotta say - I love that title!). How weird is that?
Somehow the world of ‘Ducks’ - yes, I’ll say it again, Ducks - will permeate the whole proceedings…
I know - madness abounds!
I’ll spin a demo of the first A/C hit I ever had (Adult Contemporary, that is), recorded at the very beginning of my songwriting career way back in the mists of time in a North London studio; a nod of thanks goes to Stevie Lange and Kim Carnes.
And a ditty I wrote with Robbie Williams that was eventually recorded by him as a duet with Ireland’s heartthrob, Ronan Keating, will be wheeled out in all its demo glory.
As well as Ducks, UFOs will be circling the show. An extraterrestrial segment will ask us to suspend our cynicism and disbelief for a moment, and allow ourselves to ‘BELIEVE’. C’mon you know you really want to…..
As I said at the top here, I’m playing more tracks on this show than I usually do; I was taken by an uncontrollable lust to reach ever deeper into my song vault to fill this hour to the brim with my ancient noises.
So sit back OwlHeads and gorge yourself in demo Heaven.
