The crucifixion of Jesus puts to an end the religious categories that separate people from one another and unites us under a common banner.
We might want that banner to be a declaration of love, or grace, or mercy. But the thing under which we are all included is actually our guilt.
We, all of us, are the ungodly.
And yet Christ dies, for us.
