God's presence is experience-able. Our faith in God is not simply knowledge about God, but it is a relationship - something that is actually experienced. We can experience physical effects of the presence of God – goose-bumps, heat or cold sensations, or a general atmosphere. This is part of what brings the reality of God from a head thing to a very real heart thing.
